Ku-Baba, or Kug-Bau in the Sumerian language, was of Sumer during the third dynasty of Kish, the ancient capital city of Sumer. She was recorded in the Sumerian King List as the first-ever female monarch in history: “In Kish, Kug-Bau, the woman tavern-keeper, who made firm the foundations of Kish, became king: she ruled for 100 years. Neithhotep Regent Queen of Egypt (-3001-) Merneith Regent Queen of Egypt(-2952bc-)

\ Neithhotep Regent Queen of Egypt (-3001-) She was the wife of king Narmer and mother of king Hor-Aha. After the death of her son, her grandson Djer became pharoah with Neithhotep as regent. Thus, she became the first documented female ruler in history. Neithhotep arranged and ordered an expedition through the Wadi in attempt to mine ore and harvest feedstocks. Neithhotep's name appears on several clay seal impressions inside a serekh – a fashion that was commonly reserved for male rulers only. Secondly, her tomb is of extraordinary size, and it has its own cultic enclosure. Such a case is otherwise known only from queen Meritneith.   Merneith Regent Queen of Egypt(-2952bc-) She was the daughter of the Pharoah Djer and was the sister-wife of Pharoah Djet. When Djet died, her son Den became pharaoh. Merneith ruled as regent. She was the second female ruler documented in history.
